Painting: "Autumn" by Frederick Carl Frieseke

AUTUMNAL THOUGHTS
Autumn comes for a little while
with crayoned leaves,
and with the wind
they flutter down
to coat the ground ~
like a sweater,
to keep earth warm
Getting the Earth ready
for the first snow storm...
Winter's chill is on the way
and the leaves must fly
so the snow can stay
for it's Autumn now,
almost at its end
and soon the naked trees will
sway and the branches bend
Autumn will stretch one last,
sweet time
and then give way
to the northwind's rhyme......
