Army Mom’s Safe Haven

RIVER SONG

I have to stop myself where I begin
to give advice
to others; stand and think about it twice.
The river goes beneath the bridge
and I have slept since then.
These kids these days who roil in sin,
where I have been some once or thrice;
some of my teeth retain their skin.
The river flows beneath the bridge
and I have slept since then.
Who profit nothing by my knowing:
you just go! and keep on going!
Never mind the tired and thin
old fools like me who must advise.
I won't
shake this finger in your face;
say something really stupid-wise
like
"I remember when..."
I don't.
That river's gone beneath the bridge
and I have slept since then.
