Army Mom’s Safe Haven

J. Logan: Waterfall

We'd been out for many days and were now in triple canopied jungle. We came to a small clearing at the base of a waterfall where the sun, intermittently, came streaming through the trees. The rocks were covered with emerald green moss that ran into a large pool of water. This made for a beautiful scene, the light playing with the moss and the water.

We took turns pulling off our filthy fatigues to jump into the water and bathe. Many of us had fun sliding down the slick, moss covered rocks on our bare butts. We all bathed in the pool as it filled with soapsuds. It felt really good to be clean again.

We put our clothes back on and walked off, single file, back into the jungle... smiling.
