Army Mom’s Safe Haven

FEAR OF LIVING

I had the fear
of living,
she wrote –

and I understand
that.

I have
become
almost fearless,
almost.

Living with fear,
we pay a heavy price

in hearts
and souls; and
the cost

is too much for
some dear ones
to pay.
So, here and now,
today,
I pray

that each one
of us
remembers
the ones who
have gone on ahead,
and that we face
tomorrow
with our heads
held high,
with hope,
and without
dread.
