Army Mom’s Safe Haven

AN UNKNOWN PLACE

Take me to an unknown place
where there are smiles upon
each face;
where nations blend all
into one
where no one carries
blade or gun
where borders all
have ceased to be,
and there’s no such word
as “casualty”

Take me to an unknown place
where mothers share no
grieving space
where fathers’ sons’ live
long and well
where no one’s son
sees war’s cold hell……

Take me to an unknown place
where children are not left alone
because a father’s blood and bone
is left upon a foreign shore
Take me to an unknown place
where Peace is King
and War’s a Whore……….

A dreamer: that I am, my friend.
Were I to scour this earth,
end to end,
I would never find the place I seek
Inheriting the earth, we are not meek
It’s a world of peace I’m looking for
spilling her borders
and drowning War….
