DECEMBER THE 6th

One mother was proud,
but silently sad;
One mother was proud
of her safe Navy lad…

One mother, unsure
if her son would return ~
one mother was stunned
by what she would learn ~

One son was a pilot,
one son sailed the seas;
Each son had a mother,
who prayed: Dear God, please…

One mother slept soundly
with her son safe from war,
One mother was restless,
she might see him no more……

‘Twas December the sixth
and the two sons would meet;
one would be bombing
the best of the fleet.

‘Twas December the sixth
and the world paid the cost ~
and The Pilot, and Sailor
on the same day were lost.
