Army Mom’s Safe Haven

WORDS

Just words
that's all it is
all it ever is
Just words

word after word
after word after word
they are all running
together ~
to the point that
for me, they can't
be heard

Oh, I am tired of
all the speeches
all the rhetoric
when our sons and
daughters
are fighting in
the earth's most
far-flung reaches ~

where the hostage waits
knowing what his fate
may be
He doesn't care for speeches
He only knows he may be killed ~
He prays
as his mother tearfully
beseeches.

I wonder how I would react
How would I bear the fear?
I cannot know.

I've had enough of all the Words
What I wish for now
is not the "Tell" but the
"Show".
